FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
During the pandemic, we're keeping in touch with each other, but arranging far fewer events than normal. The events we do arrange are circulated to our members via email.
Most of our events are open to prospective members, and you will be made very welcome. We would encourage you to come along to several different events before you apply to join Horizons. There are just a few events which are for members only, and these are clearly marked on the programme. Some events have restricted numbers, especially some of those in members' homes, so please don't be discouraged if you're unable to book into an event because it's full.
HOW DO I APPLY TO JOIN HORIZONS?
All the information will be sent to you by the Membership Secretary. But in a nutshell, we would ask you to go along to a few of our events, and if you are interested in joining us, just fill in the application form which we will send you with your second programme.
WILL I HAVE TO HELP WITH ORGANISING EVENTS?
We hope that you will! We encourage everyone to get involved with taking part in Horizons, and arranging the sort of events the appeal to you. But there's no rush, and only when you're ready!
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN PROGRAMME PLANNING?
A different group of members, usually two or three, gets together to coordinate each two monthly programme. New members are teamed up with "old hands" who know the ropes. It's not difficult - most people find that it's a good way to get to know other members, and get more involved with the club. Again, this would only be when you've been a member for a while, and feel ready.
